Sketch for "Kait"




EDIT: wasn't happy with my first pass on this sketch so I went back in and finished it off a little more

  1. Great piece, Ray! Value studies are cool to look at... and I'm sure very useful to further paint a piece, right? (I haven't tried that in order yet).

  2. Thanks Jose. Yes, my process goes from a value sketch to a color sketch and then to my finished painting. It actually speeds up things for me since I am getting as many of my pictorial problems out of the way before I paint the final painting. You should give it a go!

  4. Hey.. worked on deeper value, right? You can see great depth in the fabric, and more definition in lighting... great!
    (this is from my memory of the first one, if I'm correct) :)
